Southwest Kids offers care and classes for children ages 0 through 5th grade. Each class provides a safe, structured environment with age-appropriate content and increasing levels of structure as children grow
Children of all ages are always welcome in our main worship gathering.
We have a dedicated room for mothers to use when nursing their children. If you don’t know where it is, please just ask an SWKids volunteer.
The goal at this age is to create a nurturing environment which sets the foundation in young hearts that church is a place for both learning and fun. Parents can take comfort in knowing that their young children are receiving exceptional, loving care while they enjoy worship.
As with our nursery, the goal at this age is to create a nurturing environment that sets the foundation in young hearts that church is a place for learning and fun. Parents can take comfort in knowing that their toddlers receive exceptional, loving care while they attend the corporate gathering.
Children aged 3 to 5 will participate in our SWKids program. Right before the sermon, children will be dismissed to their classrooms to receive a short lesson from the Gospel project curriculum, and enjoy crafts/coloring.
We ask kids in Kindergarten and above to attend the first part of the worship service with their family. After being dismissed from the main worship service, these children participate in our elementary SWKids program.
Each week, the children receive relevant Bible teaching from the Gospel Project Kids curriculum and enjoy age-appropriate crafts/coloring.
We desire to equip parents to impart Jesus-centered, faith-building truth from the Bible, so we post free Parent Resources on our website and mobile app. The information includes the weekly passage and memory verse/song, as well as links to other resources.
Upon arrival, follow the signs to the SWKids' check-in station. One of our volunteers will collect some basic information about your family, like contact information and allergies.
Both you and your child will receive a matching security sticker that they’ll wear for that day, and you’ll use to pick up your child after the service. Once you’ve checked your child in once, we’ll print off unique stickers each week without you having to provide your information again.
If you need additional stickers to label diaper bags or other items you want to leave with your child, just let our volunteer know.
The children will play with one another, sing together, read Bible stories, and enjoy a fun and interactive lesson taught by our dedicated volunteers. See above for specific class availability.
After checking in your child(ren), we ask those who are in Kindergarten through 5th grade to attend the first part of the worship service with their family/caregiver until they are dismissed to their class. Children are also more than welcome to stay for the whole service.
6 months – PreK: You will pick up your child in the same area where you dropped them off. Signs denote the two classes.
Kindergarten – 5th Grade: You will pick your child up directly from their classroom. A sign marks each class. If you have trouble finding a class, let one of our volunteers know, and we’ll be happy to help you out.
For your child’s safety, you will be asked to show your security sticker to one of the SWKids teachers. They will then match your sticker to the child’s sticker before releasing them.
If you happen to misplace your security sticker during service, you will need to provide proper identification to match you and your child in our system before they are released.
In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we send a text to each parent/caregiver. We ask that you immediately make your way to the SWKids check-in, where a staff member or volunteer will direct you to your child’s room.
We are committed to the safety of your children, so all our leaders are active members who have been trained and carefully screened, including a background check. To further enhance our safety precautions, we use secure check-in and check-out procedures with identification badges that are unique to each family.
For more information about our children’s ministry, please read the Southwest Kids Policy & Overview. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us in person on Sunday mornings or email us at any time.
